Hi Everyone,
My name is Linda and this is my first blog I've ever created. However, I really don't like this, as I'm a very private person and really don't like this part of technology. Since this is a requirement for this class, I am posting this blog. Have a great day.

Linda,
I understand what you are saying...being a private person. I am probably considered an open book. I think that your committment to education and being a part of the doctorate program tells many positive things about your character. Good Going!

Linda -

Your blog is off to a good start.

Privacy is very tricky with web technology. As adults, we understand it, but kids don't - I'm not wild about sites like MySpace, but I joined and was able to monitor my daughter. Several of my students have it and I am able to discuss privacy and safety with them.

Thanks for the post - I don't think this is really discussed enough.

Hi Linda,

I agree with you! This assignment was very difficult for me too. I love technology but really do not see a purpose for this type. If there is something I want someone to know...I will send it directly to them. Why does it need to go out to the world? There are closed forums where people who share the same interests can correspond and post, again, making this type of "to the world" posting irrelevant in my mind. But, maybe I'm missing something.....??

Linda,
I, too, experienced difficulty coming to grips with the idea that this blog would be viewed by people outside our class. I have done match.com, but that was a piece of cake as I could block out knuckleheads. Add to it that we have to post to the blogs of 12 other classmates, and my brain was on overload. At school we have the ups and downs of myspace.com; it helps some student come out of their shell and with others it stirs up a lot of conflict and resentment. We recently had an incident involving two girls who ceased to be friends and they were going at it on myspace.com and bringing their conflict into school. As if that wasn’t bad enough, one of the mothers got involved and posted the other girl’s (failing) grades on the myspace site.
